Credit to Moline and bluebolt, instructions from http://windowsenthusiasts1.epizy.com/USB2Issues.html JUST A REMINDER: THIS ISO HAS THE USBHUB20.SYS DRIVER REMOVED!! BEFORE STARTING, BE SURE TO HAVE A STOCK 2000 SP4 CD OR ISO TO COPY THIS FILE FROM! USB 2.0 will be broken after installation on some Intel boards, especially Sandy and Ivy Bridge. Here's how to fix it. Once done, right click My Computer and click Manage. Go to Device Manager and scroll down to USB devices. Two will be listed, but with a ! beside them both. Click the top one and right click it and click properties. Go to the Driver tab and click on Update Driver. Click Next on the new box and then "Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver". Click next. Choose Standard USB Host Controller and select Standard Universal PCI to USB Host Controller. Windows 2000 will warn of incompatibilities. Click Yes. It may warn of Signatures. Ignore that to continue. Once done, restart. Upon restart, head back to Device Manager to take care of the last ! under USB. Update it by right clicking and clicking properties. Click on the Driver tab and then Update Driver. Click Next on the new box and then "Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver". Click next. Select the lone option Standard Enhanced and click next. It may warn of signatures, but it is safe to ignore it. The drive will install. Once installed, that is it! You have working USB. On earlier models such as Ivy Bridge, USB 3.0 ports will fall back to 2.0 ports and work just fine.
